Recycling at Newport

IN BREAKING NEWS…....Tammy has begun to introduce compostable containers and utensils to the canteen.  These containers are made from plants, rather than the petroleum products that make up plastic.  These containers break down in soil in 180 days.  Gradually, she will discontinue the use of single use plastics and Styrofoam containers, including soy sauce fish.  While these items cost slightly more than their plastic counterparts, she believes that this is a more environmentally friendly option for our school and for nature.  Please look out for the new containers and show Tammy your support of her and the Green Teams’ initiatives.

Thank you to all the parents, carers and grandfriends who continue to support recycling here at Newport.  Recycling of: toothpaste tubes and toothbrushes is ongoing.   These items may be left in the box outside 4NE.

Corks, batteries and mobile phone recycling continues as well and these items may be left in the dedicated containers in the library.  One of our teachers organises these items to be recycled through a variety of recycling groups.

Thank you all for your assistance.
